Be a Part of the Art of #NAFOAFall21
July 28, 2021
NAFOA is excited to welcome back Matt Orley with Big Paper Strategies to the 2021 Fall Finance & Tribal Economies Conference on September 27-28, 2021. Matt will be drawing live illustrations each day, and this time we get to experience him drawing in person during the general session panels and select breakouts. Don't miss seeing the insights and ideas from many of our sessions memorialized in the official conference illustrations.
The conference art photographer, Walter Lamar, is an enrolled member of the Blackfeet Nation of Montana and a descendent of the Wichita Tribe of Oklahoma. Walter's long career in law enforcement included 18 years with the FBI. He was named Deputy Director of the BIA Office of Law Enforcement Services in 2000. In response to the attacks of 911, Walter was named Senior Advisor to the Director, Department of Interior - Office of Law Enforcement and Security, where he served to ensure the protection of the Nation’s dams, monuments, and icons.
Like his father, Newton Lamar, Walter enjoys photography, particularly shooting photographs of our Native people. The photograph featured is of Loren Warner from 2014. He was dancing at the Maxine Zotigh, Memorial Powwow when the shot was taken.
For use of the image, NAFOA made a donation to the American Indian Graduate center in the name of Cinda Hughes.
