Tribal Taxation Consultation 
and Listening Session
NAFOA will host two important sessions at the 2017 Fall Finance and Tribal Economies Conference on Monday, October 2, 2017. The sessions are designed to provide direct feedback on important taxation issues in Indian Country, including developing trade and commerce regulations at the Department of Interior and proactively soliciting feedback on possible IRS guidance on the federal tax treatment of tribally-chartered corporations.

Consultation: Department of Interior Tribal Trade Regulations
The Bureau of Indian Affairs will engage with tribal leaders and their representatives in a government-to-government consultation to discuss the proposed regulations centered on Indian trade and commerce. Listening Session:  Tribally-Chartered Corporations & Congressional Tax Reform
NAFOA will host a facilitated listening session on potential IRS guidance on the tax treatment of wholly-owned tribal corporations formed under tribal law. This important session will provide NAFOA with guidance on how to move forward with this important issue. The listening session will also provide an update on the congressional efforts to take on tax reform as a priority in this Congress.
