Risk Manager

The Risk Manager is largely responsible for the development and implementation of programs and policies to mitigate risk and minimize loss. Programs and policies should focus on avoidance, loss prevention and reduction of incidents while outlining the financial impact of risk to the Cabazon Band of Mission Indians and Fantasy Springs Resort Casino. Works closely with HR in drafting policy and procedures.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include

  • Develops risk management policies and directives for casino operations and also guidelines and procedures for incident reporting and handling.
  • Create, implement and maintain safety programs that will minimize risk exposure, including safety training, safety inspections, safety incentives and safety committee.
  • Focuses on risk control and safety measures to reduce frequency and potential severity type incident costs.
  • Maintain, analyze and monitor workers compensation claims and costs; assure proper completion and distribution of all necessary paperwork for claims maintained up to date.

  • Ensures staff members and guest actions are performed in accordance with regulatory compliance requirements such as Federal OSHA approved standards with current compact and workers compensation.  
  • Performs risk assessment for casino operations and performs safety inspections as required.
  • Develops strong, credible relationships with management staff.
  • Attends various company department meetings.
  • Works closely and assists the Compliance dept. /positions.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Bachelors or Master’s Degree in relevant discipline is a plus.
  • Should have 10+ years’ experience in Loss Control with at least 7 of those years of risk management experience, insurance, and workers compensation.
  • Experience with Federal OSHA regulations and other applicable laws.
  • Knowledge of and experience creating and implementing safety programs, workers compensation and liability insurance programs including claims management.
  • Exceptional detail and follow-up skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence.
  • Proven ability to interact effectively, influence and build consensus among departments.
  • Gaming or entertainment experience is not required, but strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in computers, including Microsoft Office, Word and Excel.
